"Virtually unstoppable small-school high school football player who faces rural competition but consistently asserts his will. Able to run down or outrun almost any opponent at Texas 2A level," said national scouting analyst for 247Sports Gabe Brooks. "Enormous production as a dual-threat QB with 2,000-plus passing, 2,500-plus rushing, and 70-plus total TDs as a junior. Nearly 300 tackles and 24 INTs on defense from freshman through junior campaigns, plus a handful of special teams TDs."

Last season, Bussey saw time on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, going 121-of-187 for 2,177 yards and 26 touchdowns, as well as recording 184 rush attempts for 2,596 yards and 46 touchdowns and 115 tackles, five interceptions, four pick sixes, three kick return touchdowns, and one punt return touchdown.
