Bryce Young Officially Declares for NFL Draft

The Bryce Young era in Tuscaloosa has officially come to a close as the prolific passer officially declared for the NFL Draft early Monday in a press conference at the Mal Moore athletic complex. Young is widely regarded as a top-5 player in the draft and the potential number one overall pick as the quarterback needy Houston Texans currently hold that selection.

Young leaves Tuscaloosa as one of the greatest to ever pass the pigskin in crimson and white. In his career at the Capstone he completed more than 65% of his passes for 8,356 yards and 80 touchdowns while only throwing 12 interceptions.

Young currently holds the single season and single game passing yardage records at 4,872 and 559 yards respectively. His 80 touchdowns rank second all-time only behind Tua Tagovailoa and his 8,356 career yards rank second all-time only to AJ McCarron, a three year starter.

Young plays the game in a unique way, similar to Patrick Mahomes, who is currently the face of the National Football League. Both quarterbacks seem to approach the position similarly to a point guard in basketball, unafraid to scramble for extended periods of time with their eyes still locked downfield and make unconventional throws to whoever they feel can make a play.

In the NFL, Young will likely be a starter very quickly, joining recent Alabama alumni Mac Jones, Jalen Hurts, and Tagovailoa. If Young can start next season, Alabama will join an exclusive list of currently just three schools to ever have four alumni start at quarterback in the NFL in the same season (NC State, Michigan, and USC).
