Alabama Rises in Latest AP & Coaches Polls
Alabama secured its first win of the season Saturday with a dominant 73-0 shutout against UL-Monroe. After an initial 31-17 defeat by the Florida State Seminoles, the Crimson Tide rebounded in Week 2, evening their record to 1-1.

Entering the season at No. 8 in AP Top 25 Poll, Alabama dropped to No. 21 following the loss to the Seminoles. However, the commanding victory at Bryant-Denny Stadium propelled them to No. 19 in the AP Poll and No. 18 in the Coaches Poll.
To reach their goal of making the college football playoffs this year, the Crimson Tide still have much work ahead to consistently remain in the Top 12.
The AP and Coaches Poll don't determine teams selected for the 12-team college football playoff format. However, a high ranking and wins over ranked teams can boost the resume of teams hoping to compete for a national championship this season.
Alabama now gears up for its second home game against Wisconsin on Sept. 13. The game is set for noon EST kickoff and will be broadcast on ESPN.
