Georgia placekicker Peyton Woodring joins Downs for the honor. He went a perfect 5-for-5 on all kicks, including a career-long 38-yarder.

We will leave it up to you if Woodring's performance matches Downs' 13 tackles and interception in Alabama's rout over Mississippi State.

Downs was PFF's highest-graded freshman of the week, earning a grade of 91.4. He helped the Alabama defense hold the Bulldogs to 261 total yards, the 2nd-lowest for the Bulldogs this season.

The Hoschton, GA, native has been all over the field for Alabama this season, becoming an instant playmaker on a dominant Alabama defense.

The young safety has made a name for himself early into his collegiate career, earning his second SEC award this season. Downs was named to SEC Freshman of the Week for the first game this season.
