Three high schools in the Tuscaloosa City School system will play football games a day early this week due to the threat of severe weather brought on by Hurricane Delta, the system announced Tuesday afternoon.

The tropical system was upgraded to a Category 4 Hurricane Tuesday morning, and some models predict it will bring inclement weather to parts of Central and West Alabama later this week.

The Northside Jaguars' away game against the Hueytown Golden Gophers, the Central High Falcons' home match against the Selma Saints, and the Paul W. Bryant Stampede's home contest against the Brookwood Panthers will all kick off at 7 p.m. Thursday, TCS announced Tuesday afternoon.

The city school board's decision follows similar news out of the Tuscaloosa County Schools System Monday, when County High and Northside both announced that their Friday games would be played a day early.
