It has been day after day of some sort of heat issue for West Alabama. If you think this prolonged heat is only impacting the southern region, it’s widespread and affecting over 100 million people.

Heat Advisory Extended for 10 West Alabama Counties

Closer to home, the “Heat Advisory” has been extended (again) by the National Weather Service in Birmingham until Thursday, July 31 at 9 p.m. for the following West Alabama counties: Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker.

The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat-related illnesses.

Afternoon – Evening Storms Possible

Also, don’t forget the typical summer weather pattern of showers and storms. James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said the timeframe is “1:00 until 10:00 p.m. The chance of any one spot seeing rain today is 30/40 percent.”

Heat Index Guide Plus When Temps Feel Like Over 90 and 100

Be sure to pay attention to the ‘Feels Like’ temperatures, as that can help you determine how your body will react to heat and humidity.

During high-heat periods, there is an increased risk of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

Additionally, the timeframe guide can help you plan outdoor activities effectively.
