A fundraising campaign seeking to raise $50,000 to help cover the medical bills of Alabama broadcaster Chris Stewart was launched on GoFundMe Thursday afternoon.

Stewart, a familiar voice to any fan who listens to Alabama football and basketball games on the Crimson Tide Sports Network, suffered a stroke in April 2018 and underwent a bypass surgery in August.

During the recovery process, Stewart contracted an infection that affected his kidneys, lungs, and blood cultures, according to the page. That infection has kept the beloved broadcaster in the hospital for two weeks now.

The campaign's organizer, Leah Colley, said Stewart is making slow but steady progress, but will likely remain hospitalized for some time as his body fights off the infection and recovers from the entire ordeal.

The fundraiser seeks to raise $50,000 to ease the difficulty of mounting medical bills and take some pressure off Stewart's wife Christy and the rest of his family.
