Alabama running back Derrick Henry found out Monday night that he would be traveling to New York City this weekend as a finalist for the 2015 Heisman Trophy.

The SEC record holder for rushing yards in a single season met with the media the day after receiving the news and talked about the honor.

"Every time NCAA (football video game) used to come out, I'd always be the first one that wanted to get it and my main goal was to win the Heisman in the game," Henry said. "It's always been a dream of mine to be in the conversation with this award so it's just a blessing for me."

The dream appears to be on the verge of becoming a reality. Oddsmakers released their final odds on the winner and Henry is a big favorite. If he could become the second winner in Alabama's history, Henry said it would be a huge honor.

"It would be a dream come true," Henry said. "It makes my heart beat even thinking about it, man. It would be a dream come. It's a life-long goal; it's a dream of mine since I was a little kid to be in the same name as some of those guys that in the Heisman brotherhood. It would be unbelievable.

Henry will be traveling to Atlanta on Wednesday for the college football awards show and then leave from there to New York on Friday. The 2015 Heisman ceremony will air live on ESPN at 8 PM/CT this Saturday.
