All Alabama public schools will be closing for two and a half weeks beginning Wednesday, March 18th as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

WBRC Fox 6 News reports Alabama Governor Kay Ivey made the declaration as a response to growing concerns about the novel Corona Virus. A State of Emergency was declared earlier today (Friday, March 13th), and the announcement of school closings followed shortly afterward.

Public schools in Alabama will be closed through the end of March. Students and faculty will not report to these schools as a preventative measure against COVID-19.
