Cold Temps Causes Massive Fish Kill-Off In Alabama Waters
Did the weather in Alabama cause a massive killing of fish in the water?
The year 2025 in Alabama has gotten off to a wild start as far as the weather is concerned. At one point in January, it seemed like there was snow everywhere in Alabama.
In Mobile, Alabama, there were 7.5 inches of snow. The Weather Channel said this is a “New all-time 1—and 2-day snow record.”
Battleships surrounded by snow and beaches with a snowman seen cooling off near the water was not on the bingo card for 2025.
It seems like the unusually cold weather in Alabama has caused the death of dozens of fish in Alabama waters.

"Massive fish kill in the canals in Gulf Shores. Behind DeSotos, is the caption on a video posted to Facebook by James Spann.
"We were told it was from the cold weather.”
Can fish die from extremely cold temperatures?
Were the fish just in shock?
It seems like this isn't the first time this has happened. According to a post from Gulf Coast News, this happens every few years due to cold temperatures. In Baldwin County, record low temperatures caused a massive kill-off of mullet in the Gulf Coast region.
