A 40-year-old Coker man was killed by a falling tree limb in Northport Monday morning, according to investigators.

Captain Kip Hart, the assistant commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the Northport Police Department and its Fire and Rescue Department were called to a home in Cloverdale Estates around 8 o'clock Monday morning.

There, Kenny Tidwell of Coker, Ala. was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hart said Tidwell had been around 60 feet up in a tree cutting a limb when it fell and struck him.
