Coach Saban Happy with the Wide Receivers
After the Alabama Crimson Tide's dominating 55-3 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores, coach Nick Saban gave his comments on the wide receiving group.
"I think it was kind of our game-plan going into the game that we would spread these guys out more and try to attack them more in the secondary," said Saban.
"We thought we had some really good matchups based on how they played and what they have done. The receivers played really well in the game, I do not think we had many drops, and there was more precision route running which helps with the quarterback's timing."
During the night game against the Commodores, quarterback Bryce Young and Alabama passing game finished the game with 400 passing yards. Transfer Jermaine Burton had four catches for 94 yards, Traeshon Holden has three catches for 45 yards and a touchdown, and Kobe Prentice had three catches for 32 yards.
The star in the receiving game though was sophomore, Ja'Corey Brooks. Brooks had his coming-out party ending with six catches, 117 yards, and two touchdowns.
"We have high expectations for our receivers and Ja'Corey did not disappoint tonight," said Saban. "He had a great start to the game and finished the game great. He really did a great job and made some great catches".
With Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Tennessee coming up, it's really nice to see the receivers and Bryce Young get on the same page.
