In the week 5 matchup, Birmingham found themselves down by 10 points in the second quarter, but were able to go on a 23-0 run to give them the double digit victory. Stallions quarterback J'Mar Smith went 17-of-22 on passing for 203 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions, while Birmingham's other quarterback Alex McGough, who was picked sixth overall by team, added on to the passing total, going 4-of-11 for 50 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

The game started out with the Stars scoring on their first possession with a two-yard touchdown run from running back Matt Colburn. After both teams traded a punt, the Stallions were able to respond with their own score, courtesy of a 17-yard touchdown pass from McGough to wide receiver Michael Dereus, ending the scoring in the first quarter.

Philadelphia took the lead back in the second quarter by scoring another touchdown, before then extending their lead with a field goal by taking advantage of a McGough interception at the Birmingham 36-yard line. Down 17-7 midway through the second quarter, the Stallions brought Smith in at quarterback, which ended up paying off for the team as he lead them downfield and completed a touchdown pass to wide receiver Marlon Williams, cutting the deficit to three before halftime.

Birmingham took its first lead of the game with their opening drive of the second half resulting in a 29-yard touchdown run by running back CJ Marble. The Stallions added a field goal to end the third quarter with a 24-17 lead.

After trading punts at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Stallions went on over a 10 minute drive, with Smith capping it off himself himself with a rushing touchdown.

In the midst of Birmingham's win, former Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough made his USFL debut with the Stallions, rushing for 25 yards.

The Birmingham Stallions will play the 1-4 Michigan Panthers at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on NBC.
