Road Tripping: Alabama Food Worth Burning A Tank Of Gas For
I would argue some of the best food…southern dishes, of course…is right here in sweet home Alabama.

Road tripping for some incredible Alabama cooking is big fun. Certainly worth a tank of gas if necessary. In some cases, you won’t even have to leave town.
I’m sharing a few of my favorite Alabama destination dining locations. Feel free to share yours.
First, Archibald’s in Northport for ribs. I know it’s in Northport, but some road trips are shorter than others. So don’t miss this treasure.
Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q in Decatur for that famous white sauce. Honestly, I was not always a fan of the white sauce. Big Bob’s made me a fan.
Dreamland in Tuscaloosa. Once again I’m going local. Worth the drive from wherever you are. I do prefer the original Dreamland in Tuscaloosa. It tastes better to me. Maybe it’s the atmosphere. This one won’t cost you a tank of gas.
Conecuh Sausage in Evergreen. The best sausage. Sorry, Jimmy Dean. Makes a great hot dog too.
The Bright Star in Bessemer. This is Alabama’s oldest restaurant. The snapper throats or Greek Tenderloin make the drive so worth it. Enjoy all the retro pictures on the wall. M
Gulf oysters at Automatic Seafood in Birmingham. Really good.
.Chris’ Hot Dogs in Montgomery, I can’t explain it. If you know, you know.
Peach Park in Clanton for peach ice cream, especially on these hot days we’re experiencing. And try the peach cobbler. Trust me.
Saw’s Soul Kitchen in Birmingham. The BBQ is great, and all the sides are quite tasty too.
Fisher’s Upstairs in Orange Beach for shrimp and grits. The best I've ever eaten.
So plan on hitting the road and trying some of my favorite Alabama food destinations. Even the ones nearby.
