After a weekend like we all just endured with Alabama football, I thought we could remember some better days here in Tuscaloosa.

According to local sports legend, one of the absolute best college football coaches once painted a saying on his football players' lockers.

The coach was Alabama’s  Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant.
Coach Bryant was a great motivator. Ask anybody who ever played football for him. What did the coach paint on his players' lockers?

“CAUSE SOMETHING TO HAPPEN”.  Coach Bryant said If you don’t make something happen with a good block, the runner would go nowhere. Coach said if you don’t tackle, the other team is going to run all over you. Be sure to cause something to happen!

The next time you are tempted to say “nothing” when asked “what are you doing” or “what happened,” remember Coach Bear Bryant’s motivational words: CAUSE SOMETHING TO HAPPEN. It works for business meetings too. And this message is one worth sharing with your children. Now, go CAUSE SOMETHING TO HAPPEN.
