Former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones can add another honor to his trophy case from the 2020 season. The College Sports Information Directors of America announced Monday that Jones along with teammate Landon Dickerson were both named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division 1 Football First team. Jones received special recognition as he was named the Football Academic All-American of the Year.

Jones and Dickerson were essential members of the Crimson Tide football team that won Alabama's 18th national championship and 28th SEC Championship in 2020. The pair provided leadership on and off the field when it came to their play, attitude and their approach to the COVID-19 protocols.

Jones completed both his bachelor's degree in communication studies and his master's degree in sports hospitality with a 4.0 GPA.

Dickerson earned his undergraduate degree from Florida State, graduating with a sports management degree with a 3.68 GPA and then continuing at Alabama with a master's degree in business administration, graduating with a 3.72 GPA. Dickerson earned CoSIDA Academic All-District IV honors for both the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

Alabama joins Boise State and Coastal Carolina to have multiple players earn first-team honors for their academic prowess. The Tide was the only team to make the College Football Playoff and have a member on the Academic All-American.

Jones becomes the third Crimson Tide player to take home the CoSIDA Football Academic All-American of the Year honors. He joins offensive lineman Barrett Jones in 2012 and quarterback Greg McElroy in 2010 as the Tide's award winners.

The Tide ranks fifth all-time among Division I schools with 194 CoSIDA Academic All-American honorees across 21 sports. The Crimson Tide football program now boasts 25 players all-time earning honors.
