Alabama’s Athletes Partnering With Barstool Sports

On July 1 the NCAA approved Name Image and Likeness for college athletes, allowing athletes across the country to represent businesses and profit off their platforms. Barstool Sports is an online media giant covering sports and entertaining the public. Barstool President, Dave Portnoy took to social media to announce a new college athletes department of Barstool after several athletes reached out to him on Twitter.
The Alabama Crimson Tide already has a few athletes that have aligned with the sports marketing giant. Alabama sophomore midfielder Macy Clem is confirmed to have signed with Barstool. Crimson Tide junior men's golfer Canon Claycomb was also added to the Barstool roster. Portnoy was not done there as he added senior adapted athletics athlete Ryan Eliassen and redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Pierce Quick to his Alabama lineup of Barstool athletes.
Clem tied the team lead with four assists and started in 14 games this past year for the 7-8-2 Crimson Tide. Clem played in 15 of the Tide's 17 games and will be have two more seasons in college to play for the Tide. Additionally Clem has over 5,800 followers on Instagram, 436 followers on Twitter and 29,000 followers on TikTok.
Claycomb, from Bowling Green, KY. is a rising junior for the Crimson Tide he was named SEC All Freshman Team in 2020. Last season Claycomb ranked third on the team in stroke average (72.56) rounds of par or better (11) and top-20 finishes (3).
Claycomb has over 1,700 followers on Twitter, over 7,600 followers on Instagram and over 190 followers on TikTok.
Eliassen is a senior from Green Bay, WI. and has 139 followers on Twitter and 481 followers on Instagram. He's helped the Crimson Tide men's wheelchair basketball team win two national championships.
Quick is a former 4-star prospect out of Hewitt-Trussville High School, he has appeared in seven games across two seasons of college football. Quick has nearly 8,500 followers on Twitter and almost 2,700 followers on Instagram.
President Portnoy declared in his video that he wasn't exactly sure what their partnerships would entail however it is a strong brand to align with. Clem, Claycomb, Elliasen and Quick can pave the way for more Alabama athletes to sign with the online giant.
