Dust off those dancing shoes, the Alabama Crimson Tide's women's basketball team has been invited to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1999. The Crimson Tide were awarded a No. 7 seed on an at-large invitation and will face No. 10 seed North Carolina.

Head coach Kristy Curry guided the Crimson Tide to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in her eight year stint with Alabama. It will be Curry's 10th trip to March Madness after leading Purdue seven times and Texas Tech twice to the "Big Dance".

Alabama finished its season with a 16-9 record and finished seventh in the SEC. The Crimson Tide is 16-10 in the Big Dance with its longest run stretching to the Final Four in 1994.

Alabama won by six the last time they took on North Carolina, emerging with an 83-77 home victory in December of 2019. The Tar Heels eliminated Alabama from the NCAA Tournament in the Tide's last appearance in the event in 1999. The first round game will be held on Monday, March 22 in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas at 11 a.m. CT.

Alabama will be led by senior forward Jasmine Walker and senior guard Jordan Lewis. The two upperclassmen were named to the All-SEC team for their play this season. Walker has 12 double-doubles this season and set a Bama school record for points in a game with 41 against Auburn in February. Lewis has started every game of her Alabama career and has over 1,500 career points for the Crimson Tide.
