The number of speeding tickets issued (we love our Alabama State Troopers) and insurance information revealed the states that drive the fastest and the slowest.

We begin with the SLOWEST driving states.
Vermont drivers average 52 mph. Maryland drivers average 54 mph. Mississippi drivers average 56 mph. And Rhode Island drivers average 56 mph.

I’ve driven in Mississippi and I can confirm their drivers are slow.

The states with the FASTEST drivers are New Mexico at 71 mph. Florida drivers average 69 mph.
And we ALABAMA drivers average 69.3 mph. We scored among the fastest drivers in the nation.
Roll Tide!

I believe those early morning commuters on Dahmer Chrysler headed to Mercedes skewed the survey for Alabama. They are always in I can’t drive 55 mode.

I also believe the slowest drivers nationwide are ALWAYS in the car in front of me.

Be safe and maybe invest in a radar detector!
