Today, as Alabama Governor Kay Ivey announced the newly amended Safer at Home Order, the state surpassed 13,000 COVID-19 cases.  This number includes more than 375 new cases that were added today, as reported by NBC news.

Former Auburn football head coach and athletic director, Pat Dye, made headlines this week after testing positive for COVID -19.  Dye was hospitalized due to longstanding kidney issues, and although he tested positive, he has no symptoms of the virus at this time, according to CBS 42 News.  His son, Pat Dye, Jr., told ESPN that his father's "positive test occurred a number of days ago during a routine precautionary test pursuant to his hospitalization for kidney-related issues.  He has essentially been asymptomatic for the virus and is resting comfortably. We fully anticipate his release from the hospital in the next few days once his kidney function is stable. On behalf of my family, I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming support for Dad and our family upon the reporting of this news."

With Pat Dye as an example, it is possible to have COVID-19 without symptoms.  People are encouraged to continue to stay home.  If you must leave your house, wear a mask, maintain social distancing, and wash your hands.  It is important to respect others as we merge back to some sort of normalcy in West Alabama.  People might even laugh at you for wearing a mask, but it doesn't matter.  Just be careful, be you, and respect the space of everyone around you.
