Alabama Eliminates Missouri In the SEC Tournament

The Alabama Crimson Tide (15-8, 8-8) took care of business in its first game of the SEC Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina. The Tide took down the Missouri Tigers 82-74 to make it into the quarterfinals tomorrow. Alabama will play No. 7 South Carolina tomorrow at 5 p.m. CT.

Alabama defeated Missouri for the second time this season after beating the Tigers in Columbia 74-59 to open SEC play in December.

The Crimson Tide was led on the offensive end by senior forward Ariyah Copeland and junior guard Megan Abrams, Copeland scored 22 points and Abrams added 19. The Crimson Tide's two All-SEC players, Jasmine Walker and Jordan Lewis both were in double-digits in scoring, Lewis had 16 points and Walker added 11.

Alabama was able to play aggressive basketball on the offensive end and got to the free-throw line for 30 attempts in the game, converting on 80% from the line. Missouri also shot well from the free-throw line but was only able to get there for seven attempts.

Alabama will take on South Carolina in the quarterfinals for the two programs' third matchup of the season. The Gamecocks defeated the Tide by 17 and by 24 already, proving why they are one of the top ranked teams in the country.

Alabama is looking to make it into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1999 and is currently projected in the field as a No. 7 seed. Tonight's win over Missouri will help the Tide's case to make it into the field as an at-large competitor. If Alabama is able to defeat South Carolina tomorrow it can consider itself safely in the March Madness tournament.
