Alabama baseball welcomes Ed Johnson out of Tennessee Tech by way of the transfer portal. Johnson is a third baseman and a native of Trussville, Alabama and originally signed with the Auburn Tigers out of high school.

The news comes on the heels of Alabama's third baseman Zane Denton announcing he would be entering the transfer portal.

Johnson played for Hewitt-Trussville High School and was considered the No. 3 shortstop in the state his senior year. He was ASWA Honorable Mention All-State and helped the Huskies win a state championship in 2016.

He spent two seasons playing for the Auburn Tigers, appearing in six games his freshman year but none in his sophomore year. He left the Tigers with two hits under his belt and transferred to Tennessee Tech.

The 6-foot-1 infielder has appeared in 100 games the last two seasons for the Golden Eagles. He's tallied a two-year batting average of .353 with 19 total homeruns and 83 RBIs, with 14 of the dingers coming in 2022.

Johnson becomes the first player to transfer into the Crimson Tide baseball program this offseason after Alabama saw a number of players head into the portal at the conclusion of the year.
