5 Things I Love About September

First of all, can you seriously believe it is September?  This relentless year of 2020 is getting closer and closer to the end.  This year certainly has been filled with heartache and madness.  There have been some beautiful moments as well.

Next to December, I really like the month of September.  December is filled with great holidays, like my birthday (lol), Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve!  However, September is another fantastic month.

There are so many things that I love about September; here are my top five:

#1 – Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day is a nationwide holiday that is to honor the American labor movement.  It is also unofficially a sign that summer has come to an end.  However, the temperatures might not reflect that.  I enjoy this holiday as a quick break before all the hectic activities and holidays ramp up.

#2 – The first day of Fall is September 22nd

Fall is one of my favorite seasons.  I don’t necessarily dislike the other, but Fall speaks to my soul.  The Fall season runs from Tuesday, September 22, 2020, until Monday, December 21, 2020.   The Fall season is also known as Autumn.  It is marked with the autumnal equinox, where day and night are nearly equal.  According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, “after the autumnal equinox, the Sun begins to rise later, and nightfall comes sooner,” which is a part I don’t like as much, but it is what it is.

#3 – The shades of Fall

My favorite color is blue, but any color associated with autumn is a winner for me.  The gold, copper, reds, browns, yellow, orange, and more are always mood lifting.  The landscape shifts into a coloring book.  I enjoy taking scenic drives through the mountains to check out all the vibrant colors.  I believe I really enjoy this because growing up in Florida; we had none of this.  However, Alabama, according to Chiff, “Fall colors traditionally peak in Alabama during late October and early November.”

#4 – Fall Fashion

Recently, I have gotten on a scarves and wraps kick.  I started my collection when I was in high school and recently picked it back up.  Each scarf or wrap has a story or memory.  Fall fashion screams coziness too, and I am all about that!

#5 – Marching Band Season

I know you all call it football season, but I call it Marching Band Season.  As a marching band member from high school to college, I believe that people attended football games for the half time show.  I tell the guys at Tide 100.9 this all the time, and they either roll their eyes at me or get a big chuckle out of it.  All jokes aside, being a marching band member is similar to be a bonafide athlete.  It takes strength, coordinate, memory, and stamina to be a marching band member.

Enjoy your September; let’s all make the most of it.
