The holiday season is basically knocking at the door, and Thanksgiving menus are already getting drafted like it's game day. Now, all we need is a clue about what kind of weather will be served alongside the turkey.

Across the United States, it’s genuinely a little all over the place, from warm conditions to mild temps and some areas cool and chilly. Plus, add in that travel will be at an all-time high. AAA “projects 81.8 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home over the Thanksgiving holiday period from Tuesday, November 25 to Monday, December 1.”

For the Deep South, including Alabama, residents can expect “Warmer than average with sunshine to spare,” said The Old Farmer’s Almanac. “Whether you’re deep-frying the bird outdoors or hitting the road to visit family, travel looks easy, and skies stay clear across the region.”

James Spann, Alabama Weather Network and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said that “Global models continue to suggest Thanksgiving Day will be mild across the Deep South with highs in the 60s and low 70s.”

In addition, Spann mentions that “very cold air will be over the western and northern states; however, evidence continues to increase that it will move into Alabama the weekend after Thanksgiving (November 29-30). Way too early to know how much rain will fall during the change, if there will be severe storms, or how low temperatures will go.”

Again, these are early predictions, and the Townsquare Media Weather Center will continue to monitor as we head into the Thanksgiving Holiday.
