Under the new Alabama Accountability Act, the state's Department of Education must release a list of failing schools.

These schools are considered failing if they rank among the worst 6% of all public schools in Alabama measured by student test scores.

Currently, there are 75 failing public schools in Alabama. Montgomery County, Birmingham City, and Mobile County have the highest number of failing schools.
