Some fine, upstanding citizen dumped this little guy in the high grass along on an isolated stretch of Riverwalk. Local attorney Shay Lawson was on her daily run when she heard whimpering in the grass.

After a half-hour of searching in vain for his owner, she scooped him up and took him home with her. The next day, she sent out a plea for someone to take him so he wouldn't have to go to an animal rescue shelter in Atlanta. Her cats had called a meeting and collectively agreed they weren't going to allow a 9-week old puppy into their club.

In the 15 years Perry and I have been married he's never asked to keep an animal so when he sent me a text begging for this one, I couldn't say no. We'd crossed the 'too many' line long ago.
