I've been worried for the past few months that we'd lost one of our ducks living at the creek. She hadn't shown up for her daily cup of Meow Mix so I was starting to accept that perhaps she'd been killed by a dog or even a coyote.

Wednesday evening, we were working out in the yard when we heard a familiar quack followed by a chorus of chirps. Mama Duck was making her way down the street with four precious babies tagging behind.

She was a little nervous so she ate her chow and got out of dodge but when I drove up yesterday, Mama and her new little family were enjoying the beautiful day.

I'm more than a little concerned however. Only two ducklings have ever managed to hatch and they didn't make it very long. I'm so tempted to scoop them all up and relocate Mama and her brood to the Pond House. I'm going to wait and just keep a close eye on them.

FYI, the almost black one in the back is named 'Little Joe'.
