Each week I will do my best to pinpoint a particular performance and the University of Alabama athlete who acomplished that feat. This week, congrats goes to Stephanie Meadow!
Stephanie became the first Alabama women’s golfer to win SEC Player of the Year and just the third player in conference history to also win SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the same season!
This junior from Northern Ireland earned first-team All-SEC honors in 2012. Was named two-time first-team All-American golfer by Golfweek, was a two-time first-team All-SEC selection and the 2011 SEC Freshman of the Year. She also is active in the community with Project Angel Tree, Read Across America and the YMCA, among other activities.
Honorable mentions this week also go to Meadow’s coach Mic Potter was named the SEC Coach of the Year and her teammate Emma Talley became the third Tide golfer to earn SEC Freshman of the Year accolades in the past four years.
Meadow earned first-team All-SEC while Talley, senior Jennifer Kirby and junior Hannah Collier garnered second-team honors. Talley was also named to the All-Freshman team.
