Here’s This Week’s Alabama Athlete Performance You Should Know About
Each week I’ll try and pinpoint a particular performance and the University of Alabama athlete who acomplished that feat.
This week’s ‘Alabama Athlete Performance You Should Know About’ comes from the UA Golf Team’s Cory Whitsett!
The junior golfer birdied the 17th and 18th holes at the Linger Longer Invitational to win medalist honors and lead the Crimson Tide to its third team win this Spring. It’s also Whitsett’s third straight individual title at this event.
Special recognition also goes to Jackie Traina. The Alabama softball junior pitcher turned in one of her best performances of the year Friday night in the series opener against Auburn. Traina allowed just three hits while striking out 11 en route to her fifth shutout.
It’s always good when you can’t name one particular standout! I’d also like to shine the spotlight on Kyle Overstreet. The freshman second baseman had a great weekend at the plate as the Alabama baseball team swept Georgia over the weekend. Overstreet finished 6 for 10 with 3 walks and 4 runs scored.
