For nearly 70 years, gospel music and inspirational messages have been flowing on the Tuscaloosa, Alabama, airwaves since the inception of WTSK, originally WTUG, until the 1980s.

Praise 93.3 – 790 WTSK The Truth continues to honor its legacy by serving the Tuscaloosa community as a beacon of faith and hope on the radio.

The rich history and legacy of WTSK was honored on a national platform during the 2025 Stellar Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. Entering its 40th year, the Stellar Awards, often referred to as the Grammy Awards of Gospel Music, showcase the significant impact and excellence of the gospel music industry.

Through multiple rounds of voting by community support, WTSK advanced to the final round of voting alongside three other radio stations located in Maryland, Mississippi, and South Carolina.

WTSK’s nomination was a direct result of our incredible listeners, whose unwavering support and consistent votes carried us through each round.

“After all, God's work through us is to deliver songs, prayers, and encouraging words to his people all over the world. We can't not do anything without him,” said Sister Sandra.

After close to six decades of gospel broadcasting, Brother J., the morning show host, said it was “well deserved after many years of long and joyful work.”

It's true, Praise 93.3 & 790 WTSK has gone from never earning a Stellar nomination to winning a Stellar Award. “This win surely is a testimony,” said Mary K., WTSK Brand Manager. “This Stellar Award reminds us why we do what we do. It’s a tribute to our amazing team and the Tuscaloosa community that supports us every day.”

Afternoon Drive personality, Chris King, was on hand at the Stellar Awards to accept the award. “I was literally shocked when we won, and I am still processing this high honor for Praise 93.3. & 790 WTSK. It's amazing to win on our first nomination."
