Working in the U.S. can be tough, especially when you are a parent. Some have help in the process, but others may be getting used to parenthood. With all the responsibilities that come with that it can be overwhelming to continue life the same way as before.

Most people have help or what we would consider a village helping them with getting used to being a parent, but some have a harder time getting help with children.

Going to work, school, or anywhere else can be a task without helping hands.

In Tuscaloosa, photo of a single mother, Ms.Cornicia Dates, taken by a customer has been going viral. The now deleted photo shows Dates working at Applebee’s with her 1 year old daughter on her hip.

When asked about why she refuses to call in and stay home with her daughter, Dates said, “I have stuff to handle. I realize life is just going to keep pushing no matter what and I have to just get up and get it done because I don't want to wake up one day and realize I didn’t get anything done.”

Dates is a biology pre-med student at the University of Alabama and she's a rehire for Applebee's after moving back to Tuscaloosa.

Dates says that she appreciates her manager for working with her schedule. She also described the work culture as a "family atmosphere."

It takes a village to raise a child, and in these situations that village would be the helping hand to get them through it. They need people in their corner who they can depend on. They are trying to better the environment they are raising the child in and could use all the help they can get.
