Wind Advisory: Gusts up to 50 Mph Possible on Friday in Alabama
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Wind Advisory for Friday, January 12, from 4 a.m. until 9 p.m.
This includes the Townsquare Media Coverage Area, including Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker counties. This also includes other counties in Alabama.
Our area could experience sustained winds of 20-30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. This could impact Alabamians because “gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Trees and large limbs could be blown down, and power outages may occur,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
You are encouraged to take extra caution when driving, mainly if operating a high-profile vehicle.
Also, it would be a good idea to secure outdoor objects. Like our unofficial “state bird,” the trampoline. Our last severe weather system launched several of these objects across many neighborhoods.
