Will Holiday Weather Impact Alabamians Travel Plans?

In a short answer, maybe. It’s genuinely dependent on where you are going.

When Should You Leave?

INRIX, a provider of transportation data and insights, says, “There will be several days of potentially bad traffic during the 10-day holiday period. Saturday, December 23, and Thursday, December 28, will be the most congested days on the road.”

Also, “On Saturday, December 30, as people return home from their holiday getaways or embark on trips for New Year's Eve celebrations, there will be a higher volume of traffic than usual for a typical Saturday. To avoid congestion, it is recommended to begin your journey before noon or after 7 p.m., said INRIX.

How the Weather Will Impact Travel

The Weather Channel said that we can expect “decent weather up and down the east coast up and down the west coast right through the heart of the country with maybe some storms here, and they're going through Thursday and Friday.”

As we get closer to Christmas Eve, the potential for travel delays kicks in. On “Saturday snow enters the forecast this is our next system, and we are looking at snow right through the Rockies and then moving on toward the east,” said The Weather Channel.

Also, there is the possibility of rain in the heart of the country, so delays are expected on Saturday and Sunday.
