The holidays are here, and so is flu season. If you haven't gotten your flu shot yet, it's time. The Alabama Department of Public Health reports widespread influenza activity across the state.

According to the latest Influenza Surveillance Map, widespread flu activity is present in all seven of the districts served by the Alabama Department of Public Health. Statewide, the outbreak of influenza-like illnesses is above the ADPH's threshold of concern for the third week in a row. Right now, one in every 20 patients is visiting his/her doctor for flu-like symptoms.

In addition to the flu, many other respiratory viruses are being reported statewide. The best way to prevent the spread of disease is to wash your hands and get your flu vaccine.
