Saturday, November 13th, Whatley Health Services will host their Whatley Walks event encouraging the community to get moving to prevent and fight diabetes. The walk will be from 9:00 am until 11:30 am at the PARA McDonald Hughes Center Baseball Field located at 3101 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Tuscaloosa, Al, 35401.

During a recent conversation with Qunisha Sanders, Ryan White Prevention/Retention Coordinator with Whatley Health Services mentioned "One of the many programs that we have is a lifestyle change program with the national diabetes prevention program and our version of it is called Change your lifestyle. Change your life. Powered by the black women's health imperative."

Sanders said, "The primary focus of that program is to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes in individuals."

I have to admit, I don't know much about Diabetes which is why I'm glad I'll be at this event. I've had many friends and family members diagnosed with diabetes. Sanders mentioned, "The main focus this year is to bring attention to diabetes and prediabetes."

What I love about the Change Your Lifestyle. Change Your Life. You get your very own coach for a full year to teach you how to eat healthier foods and increase your physical activity! The best thing is, it's all completely free!

Registration is required for the program so come out to Whatley Walks to get registered and learn about diabetes and pre-diabetes prevention.
