
West Alabama Weather: Coldest Temperatures of the Season Arriving Soon
The Townsquare Media Weather Center is alerting West Alabama residents and across the southern region to brace for what could be some of the coldest temperatures of the season this weekend into Monday, December 15. Early forecasts are pointing to a significant drop in temperatures.
Temperature Outlooks
NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a high probability of below-average temperatures during the period of December 12 through 16 for the Yellowhammer State. West Alabama is in the 60-70% likely below-average temperature zone.
Looking ahead to the projected temperatures for December 14 through the 20, West Alabama has a 40-50% likelihood of being in the zone of leaning below-average temperatures.

James Spann, Alabama Weather Network and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, says there is “no risk of any "winter mischief, like snow or ice.”
- Highs drop into the 40s, lows in the 20s for most of the state.
- Communities across the northern third of Alabama have a good chance of seeing lows in the upper teens by Saturday morning.
- The cold air will be very dry.
