West Alabama Faces Excessive Cold Risk Later This Week
Alabama residents have been bundling up for several days, but if you hoped to tuck away the cold weather gear, hold off on storing those winter coats for now.
If you thought it was already cold enough in the South. The temperatures are about to drop even further.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said, "lows Thursday night and Friday night will be in the 20s across much of Central Alabama.”
“Upper teens for lows with wind chills 10-15 degrees will be possible around sunrise on Friday morning,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said, “Friday morning will likely be the coldest morning of the week. Lows will be mostly in the 20s, but colder spots over North Alabama will reach the upper teens.”
Weekend Outlook
“Dry weather continues Saturday with highs in the 50s statewide,” said Spann. “Clouds will increase Sunday, and some rain could reach the northwest part of Alabama by afternoon. Then, rain becomes likely Sunday night as moisture levels continue to rise.”
