Now, it seems like everyone uses frost and freeze interchangeably, but there is a subtle difference.

Frost

Empress of Dirt said it is “a thin layer of ice crystals that forms on grass or other surfaces from the moisture (water vapor) in the air. This can occur at temperatures at or around freezing 32°F depending on conditions.”

Freezing

“When temperatures reach 32°F (0°C) or lower. Or the process of solidification of water and the formation of ice in aqueous solutions. The water in the ice cube tray is freezing,” said Empress of Dirt.
