West Alabama residents are being warned about a scam that could completely empty their bank accounts. A local bank is spreading the word and making residents aware of this current scam targeting bank information.

The West Alabama Bank recently made a post on Facebook warning residents of a scam that possibly involved some of their banking customers.

"We have been made aware of a current scam targeting banking customers, including some here in West Alabama. Fraudsters are sending texts and phone calls pretending to be from your bank," West Alabama Bank posted online.

 

They stated that the scams goal is to gain access to your bank account information.

"West Alabama Bank will never ask for your PIN, Online Banking password, full debit card number or sensitive information over the phone," West Alabama Bank posted along with the scam warning.

They also provided a list of steps for residents to follow if they ever receive a suspicious phone call or text message.

If you receive a suspicious text or call:

1. Do NOT respond
2. Hang up immediately
3. Call your local West Alabama Bank office directly using the number on our official website or on the back of your debit card.
