Week 2 Bama Pro of the Week: Jedrick Wills

In front of a primetime crowd on Thursday night, Jedrick Wills Jr made just his second start ever at left tackle for the Cleveland Browns. Wills shut down the Cincinnati Bengals pass rush and opened rushing lanes all night long to earn our Week 2 Bama Pro of the Week.

Pro Football Focus put Wills incredible night in perspective with one tweet.

PFF has Wills at a 66.7 season grade so far through the young season, which is certainly respectable after facing the Baltimore Ravens defense in week one. Still, his 71.9 pass-blocking grade is positive, especially considering the position change.

Wills rebounded in a big way against the Bengals, keeping the Bengals away from quarterback Baker Mayfield all night.

"Jedrick is somebody that he is grinding himself," Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said of his 10th overall pick. "He had some really nice plays out there last night, and it is never perfect. I promise you there are things we are going to work on, but he is showing the mentality of what we want this offense look like and certainly what we want the offensive line."

The first-year head coach also praised Wills's improvement from week one to two.

Unrelated, though certainly worth a mention is Wills's new endorsement with Progressive Insurance which sees him kicking someone out of his and Mayfield's book club.

It was a good week overall for Crimson Tide alumni statistically, though not many superstars walked away with victories.

*It's easy to look at the stats compared to an offensive lineman, but I'm looking for guys that helped propel their team to victory, something only Humphrey did in the honorable mentions.

Wills made plays Thursday night and was a major fixture in keeping the Browns offense moving to seal the victory, and for that is your Week 2 Bama Pro of the Week.
