Warning: Covid-19 Test Providing False Positives
The Food and Drug Administration is warning labs and medical providers that a commonly used test for Covid-19 is providing false test results.
CNN reports that the BD Max System Covid-19 test from Becton Dickinson is revealing false positives, thus skewing Corona numbers at some testing facilities.
This is a nasal swab based test. It was authorized for use on April 8th, 2020. If you tested positive with test, you should confirm your results by taking another authorized test.
The company providing the BD Max System diagnostic test is reportedly working with the Food and Drug Administration to correct any problems.
You are advised to talk with your doctor about the type of test used.
