After finishing his Alabama career as one of the most decorated players in school history, Jonathan Allen slipped out of the top 10 of the NFL Draft and landed with the Washington Redskins at 17th overall. The early returns are proving that the Redskins might have gotten a steal at that position.

After impressing coaches and teammates in training camp, Allen made his NFL debut in an exhibition game against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, and it didn't take long for him to make an impact. Midway through the second quarter, Allen shed his block and chased down Ryan Mallett to pick up his first sack for the Redskins.

It's a play Alabama fans are very familiar with seeing. Allen finished his college career with 28 sacks.

“Really just rushing the quarterback,” Allen told Redskins.com. “I had seen him step up in the pocket and had a good retrace and got him before he was able to cross the line of scrimmage.”

Thursday night's 23-3 win for Baltimore featured a number of former Crimson Tide players. After the game, Allen joined Ryan Anderson, Arie Kouandjio, Tim Williams, and Marlon Humphrey for a photo.
