Update on Severe Weather Threat for West and Central Alabama
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has released an update on the potential of severe weather.
Current Friday Outlook
“The threat of severe thunderstorms today will be confined to far southeastern Central Alabama.”
“A large mass of thunderstorms currently oriented east-west from Meridian, MS to Montgomery, AL to Columbus, GA is producing heavy rainfall but is effectively limiting the severe chances along and north of a Meridian to Montgomery to Columbus line,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
Saturday Outlook
Though the overall severe risk remains low, you can expect intermittent showers and a few thunderstorms.
“A few heavier storms could form across Southeast Alabama with gusty winds and small hail,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.
