I love Tuscaloosa. I despise the ugliness that was once McFarland Mall. Thousands of visitors eyeball that ugly corner at Skyland and McFarland. Think of all those visitors on a football weekend. Abandoned and desolate. It makes a horrible statement about an otherwise vibrant Tuscaloosa.

The city wants to buy McFarland Mall and other land from Stan Pate. The value and worth of the site is in dispute.

The city says it is all worth about $24 million dollars. The Stan Pate appraisers think it is all worth about $48 million dollars.

Sadly, the eyesore remains and makes the city look bad. Neither Pate or the city is budging on the price.
