A new hotel has opened in Tuscaloosa, and it's the first of its kind in the Druid City.

Hilton has opened its first-ever Homewood Suites, which is open now at 2451 Jack Warner Parkway West. Evan Studer, the CEO of Vista Host Hotel Management who helped bring the hotel to the area, said he is very pleased to bring an "outstanding, high quality, all-suite lodging experience" for tourists and locals alike.

"This hotel opening marks a milestone in Tuscaloosa and offers superior accommodation to business and leisure travelers," he said in a Tuesday press release.

The hotel itself will offer one- and two-bedroom suites with full kitchens and all the items necessary to cook meals, as well as accommodations such as complimentary Wi-Fi, a 24-hour convenience store, and guest laundry will be available to those staying at the hotel.

Tim Harrison, the president of Harrison Construction, praised his team for a job well done on the site's structure and design. He added that the chosen location, a spot right along Jack Warner Parkway, was a great pick.

"We are very proud of this project in the aesthetics, comfort, and ease of access to all things Tuscaloosa," he said in the press release. "The opening of this hotel showcases iconic views of the Riverfront District, the Amphitheater, as well as the Black Warrior River, and will help jumpstart numerous future developments along Tuscaloosa Riverfront.”

The Homewood Suites by Hilton Tuscaloosa Downtown is inserting itself into the local social scene, as well. According to the release, the hotel will host evening socials every Monday through Thursday where guests can enjoy complimentary beer, wine and light food. Guests can also expect a complimentary hot breakfast every morning in "The Lodge."

Above the riverfront will stand a rooftop restaurant and bar called "The 205 – Bar • Kitchen • View." This trendy social spot is open to all, not just hotel guests, offering a VIP-style view of the Druid City complete with dinner and drinks.

The hotel will also follow standards set by Hilton CleanStay to make sure that through the duration of the pandemic, guests will feel safe about checking in and out of their rooms.
