The most recent weather report increased the likelihood of snow for Tuscaloosa County and the Tuscaloosa Metro Area.

According to a press release from The City of Tuscaloosa:

Rain could transition to snow beginning at 6 p.m. and accumulate up to one inch. The chance for precipitation greatly decreases after midnight (20 percent chance).  The main concern after midnight is residual freezing. The City will continue to monitor reports to prepare for any winter weather:

  • TDOT has increased staffing and alerted crews to monitor bridge temperatures and time sanding efforts appropriately. Sand trucks are pre-positioned at the Plott Plant and TDOT for quick access north and south of the river.
  • TPD will add extra patrols to problem areas (bridges, the dam, etc.) to identify any icing issues. Officers will closely monitor temperatures as they are predicted to fall below freezing between 8 and 11 p.m.
  • Fire and Rescue Services has increased staffing to alert level. Storm supply units are being prepared at Station 1 and will respond to needs throughout Tuscaloosa County.
  • The Tuscaloosa Parking and Transit Authority buses will end services at 5 p.m. today instead of 6 p.m. The service will resume normal operations Thursday, weather permitting.
  • Tuscaloosa 311 will remain open until at least 7 p.m. and longer if weather conditions deteriorate.

City Staff will continue to follow weather conditions as the system develops and will meet this evening to make any necessary adjustments.
