Tuscaloosa Hosts Inaugural President’s Lifetime Achievement Award
Premiere Coalition Partners Association, LLC proudly announced that Tuscaloosa, Alabama, will be the inaugural site for its 2024 President’s Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony.
Tuscaloosa is a “city with a storied history of advocacy for Civil Rights, excellence in education, and commitment to civic and community service,” according to the press release from Premiere Coalition Partners Association, LLC.
Over 50 distinguished citizens, both living and posthumously, will be honored for their profound and selfless service. These honorees embody a diverse spectrum of lifelong contributions, from the pioneers of the past to the current leaders who are shaping the future of the community.
The 2024 President’s Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Weeping Mary Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2701 20th Street, Tuscaloosa.
The Historic Druid High School Class of 1968 alums are organizing this notable event to acknowledge the school's commendable contributions to the community and the nation, as well as to honor one of its renowned graduates, George E. Curry.
Curry, a Tuscaloosa, Alabama native, was a nationally acclaimed journalist, editor, author, speaker, and advocate. He was also posthumously honored with the 2023 Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dr. Beverly Kee, Executive Director of the Premiere Coalition Partners Association, says Curry attributed his childhood in Tuscaloosa as a major contribution to his success. Dr. Kee contends, “After learning more about Tuscaloosa’s rich history, influence, and community spirit, it was an easy decision to add the Alabama city to the 2024 award locations.”
