The Boot News Roundup: Trisha Yearwood Is a ‘FarmVille 2′ Character + More
Welcome to The Boot's News Roundup, a morning rundown of the news country music fans need to know. Read on to learn more about the latest goings-on in the country, Americana, bluegrass and folk genres.
Trisha Yearwood has been animated into FarmVille 2. Players will find both the singer's avatar and her music in the smartphone game: Yearwood's newest single, "Every Girl in This Town," is part of the FarmVille 2 soundtrack, too. The collaboration between the artist and game developer Zynga is part of an initiative to promote gender equality in both gaming and music.
Dylan Scott will pay tribute to his musical hero Keith Whitley with a seven-track EP, An Old Memory, due out on Aug. 16. Scott recorded the project at Nashville's Sound Emporium Studio, a studio Whitley frequented, and worked with some of the same musicians that Whitley did. Jesse Keith Whitley, Whitley's son, sings on "I'm Over You," while Whitley's widow, country singer Lorrie Morgan, duets with Scott on "Tell Lorrie I Love Her." The EP also features, among others, "When You Say Nothing at All" and "Between an Old Memory and Me," the latter of which Scott says "is the song that helped me get my record deal."
Ty Herndon is preparing to release a new album, Got It Covered, on Aug. 23. The compilation project features 10 songs: re-imagined versions of Herndon's own songs as well as covers of some of his favorites. Thus far, he has shared re-recorded versions of "Living in a Moment" and "What Mattered Most" from the record.
