The severe weather threat is continuing across Alabama on Friday afternoon and a tornado watch was issued for much of the central and northern parts of the state.
Conditions continue to worsen across the state as a winter storm impacts Alabama today and into the evening hours. The National Weather Service in Birmingham has now added several new counties into the existing Winter Storm Warning.
The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING for much of the state, and the NWS added Tuscaloosa to the portion of warned counties early this morning.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for much of our listening area in advance of a weekend that could bring significant snowfall to Tuscaloosa and the rest of central Alabama.
The chances of seeing snow in West Alabama are looking much higher, as the National Weather Service in Birmingham has already issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect from Friday (January 6) morning through Saturday (January 9) morning.
