The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide is set to play in the national championship game next Monday night in Indianapolis, Indiana. With the end of the season upon us and the coaching causal in full swing it appears the Tide will be losing an assistant coach.
Jay Valai is one of many new staff members for Alabama this season. Valai is taking over for Karl Scott as the new cornerbacks coach and safety Jordan Battle speaks very highly of him.
The Alabama Crimson Tide kicked off their first day of spring practice this afternoon and there are loads of new faces on offense and defense, and on the coaching staff as well.
The Alabama football program made the hiring of Jay Valai official today. Valai will become the new cornerbacks coach, replacing the departing Karl Scott. Valai joins the coaching staff after previous stints with Texas, Rutgers, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Valai is replacing Karl Scott, who left to become the Minnesota Vikings defensive backs coach. Valai has worked under some great coaches, like Andy Reid and Kirby Smart; however, now he gets the chance to work under Nick Saban. ESPN reporter Adam Rittenberg first reported the news.
